"When I go low, I feel shaky, shaky, shaky!" -YES! Me too!!!

If you are wondering what does this subject line mean, then I am pretty sure you have never experienced a low blood glucose episode. So I DEFINITELY invite you to read When I Go Low: A Type 1 Diabetes Picture Book.

In the tradition of Open Up Your Bag: A Diabetes Picture Book, Mike Lawson came back with another Diabetes Picture Book. The title? When I Go Low: A Type 1 Diabetes Picture Book. This time he partnered with diabetes writer extraordinaire Ginger Vieira, to bring you a book that will make any kid with type 1 diabetes feel instantly understood and hopeful. Because diabetes, due to lows, highs, and so much more, ain't fun, but you don't have to go through it alone.

Jax is a the young Cat with T1D that stars in the story. He sings "When I Go Low," a song he made up. Going through town, he gets heard by others singing about how he feels when he has a low blood glucose episode. Each of them approach him, and he learns how they feel when they are low. Ultimately, he realizes that he too feels all those things.

This book will also make you smile, whether you are a kid or not, if you live with diabetes and you have ever felt alone or had a low blood sugar episode. And if you are reading this for a kid with type 1 diabetes, I invite you to download the Free Activity Downloads for your child, while you get the book. Below, you can see my not-so-amazing rendition of myself doing a boogie alongside Jax The Cat!

P.S. As the hugger that I am, I loved that all the characters Jax runs into hug to say goodbye after each encounter. :)

P.S.2: if you too believe that Mike and Ginger should put out there the sound track for "When I Go Low," leave a comment.
