Sabbatical

I graduated from my bachelor's in 1994 in Venezuela. Almost overnight, I came to the US to work on my master's. When I obtained my M.Eng. degree, I started working, in early 1996, when I was 23.

25 years later, at 48 I realized I hadn't stopped to think for long, if much. I was so focused on work, that I actually missed entire chunks of life happening AROUND ME and IN ME.

I feel blessed with so many opportunities I have been afforded, working in amazing places, like Procter & Gamble, Full Sail, Diabetes Hands Foundation (which I had the opportunity to co-found with my Andreina), Livongo (now Teladoc), and until this week, Tidepool.

Today I hit pause. I am taking a break, to focus on myself and my family. I've gone back to writing, which I had dropped well over 20 years ago. I have picked up reading (actually reading, not audiobooks while doing something else) again. I am off gluten (though today I learned that beer HAS gluten, so I have work to do), off coffee (at least off of multiple cups of coffee per day), and… for now, that's all I am off of. ;)

Besides writing, I am going to be focusing on my son and his exploration in music: I want to spend my quality time, my best hours, helping him, and living that life to the fullest.

I won't be looking for another job or consulting opportunities for the time being.

So, here goes the second half of this journey!!
